On the second Wednesday of every month Gravitas Recordings has a great time throwing a monthly event known as NXT LVL in the heart of Austin, Texas. NXT LVL has showcased both local and touring talent, as well as both musical and visual artists. We’re excited to try something new this month and host the monthly event at Empire Control Room. Gravitas artists and talented homies will be providing live sound for the night: bass goddess and producer ill-esha, soulful StéLouse, groovy Fractal Sky and glitchtastic Intellitard are all part of the night’s lineup.
In addition to the delicious electronic lineup, we are excited to welcome two very talented Austin-based visual artists Elaine Alonzo and Bild to this month’s event. Both artists bring something incredibly unique to the table, and have made names for themselves amongst Austin’s creative community.
Elaine Alonzo
Elaine is a native Austinite who excels in working with acrylic paints. While acrylic is her most commonly use medium, Elaine never fails to keep it fresh and switch it up by creating different forms of art: jewelry making, pencil/india ink/oil paint/watercolor/Prismacolor markers and colored pencils; creating collages & mixed media are some of her many talents.
In addition to creating gorgeous pieces of various art, Elaine is extremely involved in Austin’s creative community. She is one of the creators of a creative zine called “Free Rent” alongside her partner in crime, Camille Lema.
Bild
Jason “Bild” Smith is an Austin based artist, who can be found live painting at live music events and festivals throughout Texas and beyond. The self-described Unorthodoxian Geometrist’s work commonly consists of vibrant color paintings and blocks crafted to look like crystals. Bild is also known for his incredible hair art designs that can be seen rocked by both men and women around the beautiful city of Austin.
Support local visual artists and talented out-of-state music producers this Wednesday (6/10) for a night of artistic indulgence. As always, the show is free. We hope to see you out!
